Royal Adelaide Show - Dressage

What a contrast the weather has been!  Sunday, 22 August was the most dazzling and beautiful day. The sun glistened down on the magic carpet of grass on the main arena (Etihad Stadium would have been jealous!) and a great day was had by everyone who attended.

Click on the link below for results.  Congratulations to all the winners and placegetters.

Christoph Hess Clinics - CANCELLED

After months of anticipation and many communications between EA, and other State EA's, it is with great disappointment that the Dressage SA Committee wishes to advise that Christoph Hess will be unable to make the trip to Australia in September and therefore the planned clinics in SA for September have been cancelled.

This news only arrived this morning and we apologise for any inconvenience that may have been caused to anyone who has made specific arrangements.

Christoph is however due in Australia in June 2011 for the Melbourne 3DE, so we are hopeful we can bring him to SA at that time.  A copy of the official announcement from Ben Harris at EA is below.  If you know anyone who was planning to attend that may have missed this important information, can you please pass it on.

Kind regards
Lorraine Wohling

2010 Kadina Agricultural Show Results & Report

The weekend of the 21st and 22nd of August saw Kadina Agricultural Society hold its annual show.  In past years the surface, more specifially the hardness of the surface, has caused concerns to jump riders, and the surface in 2009 resulted in many showjumpers cautiously deciding not to compete at Kadina in 2010.

However, to the credit of the show society, and showjumping organisers Anthony Thomas, crew, and family, the showgrounds have been completely top dressed and resurfaced, resulting in a much improved jumping ground for the states jumping riders and horses.

All horse and riders we pleased with the improvements, and the competition over the weekend was greatly enhanced, also by the use of Anthonys premium showjumping gear.

The 2011 show sould feature a complete, established jumping surface, and with the return of many competitors, the Kadina Show can become a premiere showjumping feature on the calendar.

Results can be found in the link below.

Update from the Chair

EQUESTRIAN SA is officially moving - Friday, 27 August 2010!

ESA can now confirm the location of our new premises:

Building 10, 2-4 Cameron Road, Mount Barker  SA  5251

There has been action aplenty behind the scenes to get the new offices painted, our IT infrastructure sorted, furniture, phones, photocopiers, removalists, banking details, signage etc etc etc, the list goes on - your Board members have proven to be a very multi-skilled group of people, and who would have known that Kerry from our ESA office was so good with a paint brush!  On Friday, 27 August 2010, the ESA office will be closed to the general public to facilitate our move to the new premises.  Once we are all settled into the new premises members will be invited to our official opening at the new location - watch this space!

NEW BRANCH MANAGER

On behalf of ESA and all members, please join in welcoming ESA's new Branch Manager - Sharon Rowe.  Sharon comes to ESA with considerable experience in finance and administration management having worked for the last 6 years in a large services company and prior to that within the Department of Transport, Energy & Infrastructure.    Sharon will commence in her new role on Wednesday, 25 August, just in time for our big move.

THANK YOU!

I would like to acknowledge the very generous services provided to Equestrian SA more recently on a pro bono basis and saving our organisation considerable sums of money.  Firstly Nicholas Linke and Zev Costi from Fisher Jeffries lawyers for their invaluable advice relating to workplace relations; secondly Bonnie Brady of Pursuit People Solutions for her invaluable assistance in the recruitment of our new Branch Manager; and thirdly, Peter Jones (father of SA Olympian, Megan Jones) for his IT expertise.

ESA has been very fortunate to have their assistance and I ask members to join in thanking each of them.

Chair, ESA

Laurie Lever Showjumping Squad Clinic Update

On the weekend of 31st July and 1st August 2010, ESA Showjumping conducted a state squad clinic with international showjumping competitor and coach. Laurie Lever.

Acting squad co-ordinator Tad McLEan commented: "We had great squad school with Laurie Lever. Not just a school, but a great experience. Unfortunately most senior squad members were away, but the school was made up with other very keen competitors coming from as far away as Lock. All horses and riders improved.

Thanks must go to the Brice and Clark families for the use of indoor and facilities and my family who worked very hard to make the weekend possible and of course well done Laurie Lever."

It is hoped that Laurie will continue to visit SA in the future for clinics and schools, and according to organisers, he also had a great time.

New Club Development Programme from Nature Vet and Equestrian SA

New Club Development Programme from Nature Vet and Equestrian SA

 www.naturevetdirect.com.au

A direct benefit to the horse community and your riding club

Providing Support to the Horse Community

Nature Vet Direct was formed to give horse owners online access to an unparalleled range of equine products and services, and to provide support to the horse community through the creation of valuable strategic partnerships with major equine organisations throughout Australia.

We have selected our best selling OTC (Over The Counter) products for you and your club members to purchase at competitive prices online, delivered to your door. These products range from Ammo Allwormer to Cosequin Equine and include our large range of specialty supplements.

Nature Vet Direct is also proud to bring a selection of quality clothing, saddlecloths and accessories specially designed for the horse enthusiasts who want to look smart and support their club

What’s in it for your Club?

Nature Vet Direct will return 15% of all website product sales to the horse community by way of cash contributions to Equestrian SA, Pony Club Australia and associate clubs.

Every quarter these contributions or profit shares will be allocated to the nominated Equestrian SA, PCA or associations’ account to be used for Club Development Grants for individual clubs requiring funding. As an example, you may need more show jumps or you may need sponsorship money to run your next event.  You can nominate your club for the Club Development Grant so they receive a percentage of the profit share.

How does it work?

When your club members register at www.naturevetdirect.com.au they can select Equestrian SA, Pony Club Australia or an Association to nominate where their 15% goes.  If a Nature Vet Direct new member does not want to give their percentage to a club they can donate it to a selection of horse welfare organisations Nature Vet Direct has alliances with.

How to become involved?

Nature Vet Direct is FREE to ALL clubs and associations across Australia. Contact Equestrian SA for details on the “Club Development Grant” application or download a copy from here or the http://www.naturevetdirect.com.au/ website. For brochures to distribute to your club members, please email info@naturevetdirect.com.au , call 02 9652 7000, fax 02 9652 0117 or write to:
