COVID-19 Update - 12 August 2021

The Emergency Management (Activities – Associated Direction No 8)(COVID-10) Direction 2021 have been released and are to operate as an appendix to the Emergency Management (Activities – General No 3) (COVID-19) Direction 2021

As of 12.01am Thursday 12 August 2021, the following restrictions will apply:

Level 1 restrictions with some additional restrictions

General restrictions that apply to Sport, Recreation and Fitness

  • 1 person per 2 square metres for defined public activities – standing.
  • 3 people per 4 square metres for defined public activities – sitting.
  • Masks to be worn indoor shared public spaces (i.e. club rooms, change rooms, fitness facilities etc.).
  • No communal consumption facilities.
  • Seated food and beverage consumption.
  • COVID Management Plan: events of more than 1,000 people and outdoors only.

Sport

  • Team, club and school sport training and competition is allowed
  • You can only eat or drink while sitting and communal food or drinks are not allowed.
  • Masks required for shared indoor public places (i.e. club rooms, change rooms, fitness centres).

Outdoor sport

  • Spectators permitted at outdoor sport training or competition – no masks required
  • 1 person per 2 square metres.
  • Masks required for health care services (i.e. club physiotherapy, sports trainers, doctors).
  • Mandatory use of QR Codes check-ins.

Indoor sport

  • Spectators at indoor sports -  must wear a mask.
  • 1 person per 4 square metres.
  • Masks required for health care services (i.e. club physiotherapy, sports trainers, doctors).
  • Mandatory use of QR Codes check-ins.

Fitness & swimming pools

  • Indoor fitness facility means gymnasiums, health clubs, fitness centres, yoga, barre and spin facilities, dance and pilates studios and swimming pools (other than swimming pools being used for rehabilitation purposes authorised by a health or disability practitioner).
  • 1 person per 4 square metres
  • Outdoor fitness (including boot camp/boxing class in park) restricted to 1 person per 2 square metres
  • People must still remain physically distanced and separated
  • Masks required for indoor fitness facilities and swimming pools (except while exercising).
  • Mandatory use of QR Codes check-ins.

COVID Marshals are required for:

  • Gyms/Fitness centres/Swimming pools.
  • All public activities.

COVID Safe Plan required for a defined public activity unless a COVID Management Plan is in place.

COVID Management Plan is required for an event where there are more than 1000 people present.
