Active Club Grants & Sports Injury Course opportunity

Dear SA Sports Clubs and Organisations!

Did you know that eligible sporting cubs and organisations can now apply for up to $3,000 for funding of programs and equipment through Round 50 of the Active Club Program (ACP)? The ACP is part of the Game On initiative with the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing.

Successful applicants could use this funding to partner with SASMA to run Sideline Help (sports injury first aid) and/or Basic Taping Course for your members. With certain requirements and best practice to have appropriately trained first aid officials and volunteers, we are looking to work with and support clubs and associations to provide a safe sport and activity environment. Please contact us if you require further information for your application.

The Sideline Help courseis a short and cost-effective sessionperfect for clubs, organisations and community groups and their participants as well and parents who coach, officiate or watch sport or activity. Cost, $440 for 25 people, approx. $20 per person. More information can be found here.

SASMA is the peak body in SA for Sports Medicine for over 60 years offering education courses to support a safe sport and active environment. More information on SASMA can be found here

Our Sideline Help course is a fantastic way to introduce your members to sport specific first aid skills by ensuring participants acquire skills and confidence to be able to provide immediate sports specific injury assistance for themselves or others. The Sideline Help course is a short 1.5-hour session that will educate participants on the following areas;

  • Injury Prevention & Management
  • On Field Assessment of Injuries
  • Managing Medical Conditions
  • Would Management

This can also be combined with the Basic Taping course which follows on from the knowledge obtained with Sideline Help through a practical session (1.5 hours) in which participants learn and practice skills on taping the ankle, finger and thumb. Throughout the workshop participants will be assessed on their taping techniques and will be provided with appropriate feedback. This is a perfect way to upskill participants so they can tape others or themselves. Cost $550 for 25 people, approx. $25 per person. More information can be found here.

We also run a number of other Community Courses that might interest you (see below) and provide sports injury coverage at events, for schools, community and amateur sport and elite level, including the Tour Down Under, Masters Games, SAPSASA etc.

  • Concussion / Sports Nutrition / Sports Psychology / Strength & Conditioning

Together we can get South Australians more active more often and enjoying the many social, health and lifestyle benefits sport and recreation provide.
