Board Meeting Minute Taker (Volunteer)

Equestrian South Australia is currently seeking a Minute Taker to attend monthly board meetings at our office in Mount Barker, South Australia.

This is a volunteer position and is likely to involve approximately 5 hours per month (attendance at Board meetings and writing up of notes).

You will need to be available one week-night per month from 7pm. Board meetings are scheduled in advance.

The role of the Minute Taker is to:

  • Take rough notes that accurately reflect the decisions and discussion that took place during the meeting.
  • Work with the Chair of the Board to identify and assign actions to the relevant attendees.
  • Write up notes electronically so that information can be easily discerned and communications are clear, thus avoiding any confusion. Responsibilities and ownership must be clearly indicated within the minutes.
  • Distributing electronic minutes in an agreed template format to the State Manager within an agreed timeframe. 

Desirable Skills:

  • Previous experience as a Minute Taker or PA
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality standards
  • Microsoft Word and email access
  • Excellent written and grammar skills
  • Ability to write (or type) quickly during the meeting
  • Professional manner and confidence being at a board level environment.

Equestrian South Australia (ESA) is the peak body that administers equestrian sport in South Australia under the rules and standards set by Equestrian Australia and the Federation Equestre International. ESA’s role is to promote, develop and grow the equestrian sports of Dressage, Eventing, Jumping, Interschool, Show Horse, Vaulting and Carriage Driving throughout South Australia and enable sport committees and more than 80 affiliated clubs, to deliver competition and education opportunities in a safe environment.
