Important Information for Show Horse HOTY Entrants!
SENSORY HAIR PROCEDURE
Please read carefully before competing.
Under Article 141 of EA’s General Regulations, a horse’s sensory hairs must not be clipped, shaved, removed or otherwise modified.
Hair inside the ears must also not be removed or shortened within the rim of the ear.
These rules apply at all EA competitions.
GEAR CHECK
Competitors must present to the Gear Check Steward at least 15 minutes before their class.
The Steward will check:
- The horse and rider’s gear
- The horse’s sensory hairs
- Hair inside the ears
IMPORTANT
Please do not apply makeup inside the horse’s ears.
If the Steward believes that sensory hairs or hair inside the ears have been removed or modified, the horse’s number will be recorded and referred to the Chief Steward and Ground Jury.
GROUND JURY REVIEW
After gear check & prior to the commencement of the class, any identified horse will be reviewed by the Ground Jury.
The judges will determine, by majority decision, whether the horse is to be disqualified.
CONSEQUENCE
Any horse deemed to have had its sensory hairs removed or modified will be disqualified and excluded from the final judging process.
Please ensure your horse complies with these requirements before presenting for Gear Check.
