Update on Equine Care during lockdown

We have received clarification from SA Health that we may continue to perform what is required and what we would normally do to ensure the safety and well being our horses and animals if there is no one else present to do so:

  • Providing feed and water
  • Movement of horses (welfare/veterinarian only)
  • Exercising of horses (excludes training and competing)
  • Shoeing horses if essential

Please note in performing these requirements individuals will need to comply with health and safety requirements:

  • Wearing a mask outside the home
  • Sanitising hands
  • Maintaining physical distancing

We trust this information satisfies most of your questions.

Please take care and follow the advise of SA Health, Office Recreation and Sport and SA Government as the situation is changing rapidly.
