Worlds-best rider safety training – Coming to SA
Lindsay Nylund, a world renowned expert on jockey and rider fall safety, is coming to SA to give a presentation and demonstration for Horse SA. This will be followed by a series of introductory training sessions for jockeys and riders of all disciplines. Don’t miss the opportunity to learn about this safety initiative and practice some important basics for injury prevention.
Danny Warrington, former professional steeplechase jockey, a member of the US Eventing Association safety committee, eventer and equestrian instructor, recently came to Sydney to learn about and work with Lindsay. Danny commented on 91.3 Sport FM (Talking with Horses) that he spent time researching what we were doing as a sport globally in fall safety . . . “I couldn’t find anything in the world that matched this program or looked anything like it.”

INTRODUCTORY TRAINING SESSIONS (numbers limited to 10 per training session)
Venue: Strathalbyn Polo and Recreational grounds, Callington Rd, Strathalbyn, SA
What will you learn (exercises are done with equipment, safety mats & simulations – no horse work)
 Explanation of fall safety skills and exercises
 Brace position - protect your head and neck in an unexpected fall incident
 Basic tumbling skills - forward roll, sideways roll and egg roll
 Dive roll drills and skills - if coming down head first
 Flank vault, land and roll
 Balance practice – mechanical horse (Naughty Ned) + air mattress
 Sideways fall simulation activity – mechanical horse (Naughty Ned) + air mattress
